CID Change Log 5-3-17

Cygnar

Storm Strider – We want to see the “Storm Strider” moving, not just sitting back and shooting to help differeitnate it from other battle engines like the Arcantric Force Generator.

  • Build Up Power only when advancing.


Protectorate

Vessel of Judgment – Quality of life changes to improve how this model interacts in Faction.

  • Cleansing Aura does not remove friendly upkeeps.

  • Doors of Judgement: Changed to destroy so the soul can be collected.


Khador

Gun Carriage – We felt the Gun Carriage was able to stay very safe with Reposition and 12" range on its cannons. This change brings the Gun Carriage in line with what we would like to see it doing on the battlefield. We found the majority of users only used the Trample Power Attack to gain extra threat range on its ranged weapons and Line Breaker should give it a solid bump in melee potential.

  • Replace Power Attack: Trample with Line Breaker

  • Reduce the range of heavy Cannons from 12 to 8.


Cryx



Wraith Engine – This removes the counter intuitive interaction between Soul Bondage and Cleave.

  • Replace the text of Soul Bondage with the following:
    Once per round when a living enemy warrior model is destroyed while within 2˝ of this model, you can replace the destroyed model with a Machine Wraith solo. The destroyed model is removed from play and does not provide a soul token.


Infernal Machines Theme Force – We wanted to allow the Wraith Engine to be Infernal Machine theme force.

  • The Wraith Engine Battle Engine can be included in the Infernal Machine theme force.


Retribution

Defenders of Ios Theme Force – This change adds clarity and should contribute to greater list diversity.

  • Replace the first special rule with the following:
    For every 20 points of units and battle engines in this army, you can add one weapon crew unit, command attachment, or solo to the army free of cost. Free units and command attachments do not count toward the total point value of units in the army when calculating this bonus.


Mercenaries

Hammerfall Siege Crawler – We are looking to improve the clarity of the Reinforcements special rule.

  • Change the text of Reinforcements [Rhulic] to the following:
    During your Maintenance Phase, return to play d3 small-based friendly Rhulic Grunts to play. Models return with 1 unmarked damage box. Place the returned Grunts completely within this model’s command range, in formation, and completely within 3˝ of another model in its unit. Returned Grunts must forfeit their Combat Actions the turn they are returned to play.


Trollbloods

War Wagon – The War Wagon was lacking something in the way of accuracy. Shooting Gallery both grants this accuracy bonus and supports the intent of this model as a close in battle tank. The War Wagon also needed a theme force to support it. We found the majority of users only used the Trample Power Attack to gain extra threat range on its ranged weapons.

  • Gains Shooting Gallery:
    This model gains +2 to ranged attack rolls against models within 5˝ of it.

  • Loses Power Attack: Trample


Kriel Company Theme Force – Kriel Company theme force added. This is the militant United Kriels themed force. Essentially this is the United Kriels militia. We felt this relevant to the testing of the War Wagon.

Army Composition
An army made using this theme force can include only the following Trollblood models:

  • Trollblood warlocks

  • non-character warbeasts with ranged weapons

  • Pyg models/units

  • Trollkin models/units with ranged weapons

  • Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribe units

  • Troll Whelp solos

  • War Wagon Battle Engines


Special Rules

  • For every full 20 points of units and battle egines in this army, you can add one weapon crew unit, command attachment, or medium-based solo to the army free of cost. Free models/units do not count toward the total number of units in the army when calculating this bonus.

  • Weapon crew units and solos in this army gain Reposition [3˝]. (At the end of an activation it did not run or fail a charge, a model with Reposition [3˝] can advance up to 3˝, then its activation ends.)

  • You gain +1 to your starting roll for the game.


Skorne

Winds of Death Theme Force – We would like to see Battle Engines appear in theme forces more often and this seemed the obvious place for its inclusion.

  • Replace the first special rule with the following:
    For every full 20 points of battle engines and Venator models/units in this army, you can add one Venator weapon crew unit or solo to the army free of cost. Free models/units do not count toward the total point value of Venator models/units in the army when calculating this bonus.


Legion

Throne of Everblight – Adding attacks to the Throne of Everblight makes it stronger against harder targets and can be used to generate even more special attacks. Ice Cage better supports the rest of the army by reducing the DEF of targets giving the model more utility.

  • Gains an additional Tentacle melee attack.

  • Replace Winter’s Grip (★Attack) with Ice Cage (★Attack):
    Ice Cage is a RNG 10 magic attack. A model hit suffers a cumulative –2 DEF for one turn unless it has Immunity: Cold XICONX. When a model without Immunity: Cold XICONX is hit with three or more Ice Cage attacks the same turn, it becomes stationary for one round.


Oracles of Annihilation Theme Force – This is a solid quality of life change for the Throne of Everblight in the theme force it calls home.

  • Replace the first special rule with the following:
    For every 25 points of warbeasts and battle engines in this army, you can add one command attachment or solo to the army free of cost.


Minions

Sacral Vault – These changes should make the weapon more reliable and give the player more options while optimizing the effectiveness of Deathly Domination by allowing the Sacral Vault to collect the targets soul.

  • Spectral Fury becomes ROF 1 but gains Reload [2].

  • Replace the text of Deathly Domination with the following:
    When this weapon boxes a living or undead non-warcaster, non-warlock enemy warrior model, you can immediately take control of the enemy model and make a full advance with it followed by a basic melee attack, then the boxed model is destroyed. The boxed model cannot be targeted by free strikes during this movement.

Cygnar

Storm Strider: The Storm Strider was able to sit so far back with its ranged attacks that we felt it was slightly too durable. Rather than reducing its range, we decided lowering its damage boxes slightly was a more thematic option.

-Reduce damage boxes to 28.


Protectorate

Vessel of Judgment: With the rather large bump in power it received last week we saw the Vessel of Judgment contribute an incredible amount in the battle reports for this week. While we like the work the Vessel is doing, we felt that it was slightly too safe while doing this much damage. With RNG 12, we hope the Vessel will have to commit a little more to the fight. Removing the redundancy of Vusgoth Juviah Rhoven’s Purifying Prayer, the Vessel feels more at home in the faction and brings something unique to the table. The Scrutator subtype was added to the Vessel to allow for its inclusion in the Exemplar Interdiction theme force. Please make sure to test the new Miracle specifically with Exemplar Bastions and Cinerators in this theme force.

-Add Scrutator to this model’s sub name.

- Gains Reload [1]
Reload [1] - This model can suffer d3 damage points to make up to one additional ranged attacks with this weapon during its Combat Action.

Gun Carriage: What a ride this has been! In our most recent Dev Talk about the Gun Carriage we introduced Bulldoze and a few other rules. Our feedback shows that the interaction between Bulldoze and Impact attacks (especially impact attacks that slammed models) was very confusing and not as stream-lined as we had hoped. We’ve removed both Bulldoze and the Slams from impact attacks and replaced it with the rules below. The rules below we hope will make it very hard to jam up this battle engine with infantry and provide a similar feeling when hard targets to the Dev Talk changes. Please test these, ask as many rules questions as you have, and figure out how to break these rules, and supply feedback on ease of execution and understanding.

- Reduce the cost of the Gun Carriage to 17.

- Replace Bulldoze with Crushing Weight.
When it charges, this model is not required to move at least 3˝ to make impact attacks. This model is not limited to making impact attacks once per charge.

- Increase the RNG of the Heavy Cannon to 10.

- Mount weapon gains Knockdown.
When a model is hit by an attack with this weapon, it becomes knocked down.

- Replace Heavy Impact on the Mount with Ton of Bricks.
A model hit by a non-impact attack with this weapon is slammed d3˝ directly away from this model. The POW of collateral damage is equal to the POW of this weapon.


Cryx

Desecrator: Last week saw a large increase to the power level of the Desecrator with no increase in points. Bumping its AOE down to 3” not only slightly reduces its power, but also allows Bane Warriors to charge targets that have been shot by a Desecrator without entering the Scather AOE.

-Reduce the AOE of the Plague Bringer to 3.

Sepulcher: Allowing the Seplucher to collect corpses of friendly living and undead models will bring a lot of versatility to this model and hopefully increase the amount of lists it fits into.

Replace the text of Necroharvester [4˝] with the following:
When an enemy living or undead model is destroyed while within 4˝ of this model, this model gains the destroyed model’s corpse token. When a friendly living Faction model is destroyed by a continuous effect, an enemy attack, or collateral damage from an enemy attack while within 4˝ of this model, this model gains the destroyed model’s corpse token. This model can have up to three corpse tokens at any time.

Bane Knights: We felt the this further defined the role of the Bane Knights beside the other offerings in Cryx allowing them to serve a more consistent front line role.

- Gain Set Defense
A model in this model’s front arc suffers –2 on charge, slam power attack, and impact attack rolls against this model.

Wraith Engine: Tying Unhallowed to command will be familiar to people who used it before this CID cycle. The increased area of the effect should make it a little easier to use.

-Change the text of Unhallowed to the following:
While in this model’s command range, friendly Faction undead models gain +2 ARM against ranged and magical attacks.


Retribution

Arcantrik Force Generator: In many battle reports we saw the Arcantrik Force Generator was unable to run to a solid firing position turn one causing it to have to move turn two. We would like to see this model remain stationary during the game, but we would also like it to remain relevant while doing so. This change should help with the positioning and placement on the first turn of the game.
- Increase SPD to 5.


Convergence

Circle

Celestial Fulcrum: The Fulcrum was proving to be a very strong gun platform, but was reliant on the inclusion of Wolds. We wanted to solidify this reliance by removing Fury Bank and in turn slightly reduced its points. Given its immunities we felt the Fulcrum was slightly too durable from range, a small reduction of damage boxes seemed appropriate.

- Reduce the cost of the Celestial Fulcrum to 18.

- Cut Fury Bank.

-Reduce damage boxes to 28.


Skorne

Siege Animantarax: Reducing the cost of the Animantarax makes it a more compelling option against some of the warbeast options available in Skorne. Increasing the RNG of the Club Tail lets you make free strikes with it more consistently and increases its threat range slightly as a melee option.

- Reduce the cost of the Siege Animantarax to 17.

- Increase the RNG of Club Tail to 2.


Minions

Sacral Vault: Given its durability from melee attacks because of Soul Storm and its solid range threat we felt the durability was slightly too high for a model that never really had to commit to combat.

- Reduce damage boxes to 30.

Le CID sur les BE ne le concernait pas vraiment, il était déjà joué avant ^^

Cryx
Desecrator: Many arguments were made for AOE 4 on the Desecrator and how it solidified its niche in Cryx. We felt it was still important to be able to charge your targets so we opted to allow both options.

  • Return Plague Bearer to AOE 4.
  • Replace Scather with Void Field on the Plague Bearer.


This attack’s AOE is a hazard that remains in play for one round. Non-undead models entering or ending their activations in the AOE suffer 1 point of corrosion damage XICONX.

Bane Knights: Much of the feedback stated how much better Warriors were to Knights. This point change should make the choice less automatic while keeping Warriors in a solid place.

  • Cost 9/15.

Wraith Engine: The Wraith Engine was being described as very passive and when it did leave Incorporeal being easily removed and having a low impact. Changing Cleave to Rapid Strike increases the Wraith Engines melee threat to non-infantry targets. The slight increase in boxes will hopefully force a little more commitment out of opponents trying to destroy the Wraith Engine.

  • Increase damage boxes by 2 (to 26).
  • Change Cleave to Rapid Strike.

This model can make one additional melee attack each Combat Action.

Retribution
Arcantrik Force Generator: Much of our feedback pointed out some issues the AFG was having. We hope these changes will help the AFG feel a little more fluid on the battle field while increasing its effectiveness.

  • Cut the Dual Shot special rule.
  • Increase the ROF of the Teleforce Cannon to 2.
  • Replace the text of the Destructor Attack Type with the following:


Damage rolls resulting from this attack are automatically boosted.

Mercenaries
Hammerfall Siege Crawler: Roadblock was an awkward rule to use on the Siege Crawler and did not benefit very many models. Girded will help the Siege Crawler wiggle into some non-rhulic lists as well as provide a much easier to use model.

  • Reduce point cost to 17.
  • Replace Roadblock with Girded.


This model and friendly models B2B with it do not suffer blast damage.

Trollbloods

United Kriels Theme Force: A large portion of this feedback showed how difficult it could be to position all of your medium based infantry and draw line of sight to enemy small and medium based models. Hopefully this change will alleviate some of that headache and make the list a little more consistent. Please provide feedback on how this changes deployment as well as how you advance during your game.

  • Change the second special rule to the following:


Warrior models in this army can ignore other friendly warrior models when determining LOS.

Circle
Celestial Fulcrum: Battle reports showed the Fulcrum had a severe decrease in effectiveness, even in Wold centric armies. The return of Fury Bank should help smooth those turns out. We also noticed that because of the low range of Power of the Stones it required ranged Wolds to function. The increase in collection range should make some of the more melee oriented Wolds more attractive to take with the Fulcrum.

  • Regains Fury Bank.
  • Increase point cost back to 19.
  • Power of the Stones affects command range.


Skorne
Siege Animantarax: Applying the speed bonus from Cantankerous to the base SPD of the Animantarax should make it an easier model to play. It now has the option to forgo Cantankerous and play independently on a flank or the option to deploy more central and be attacked by Paingivers for tokens. Removing Critical Smite and replacing it with Knockdown should drastically increase the melee output of the Animantarax against higher defense targets.

  • SPD increased to 8.
  • The Cantankerous special rule no longer adds to SPD.
  • Replace Critical Smite with Knockdown on the Siege Animantarax’s Club Tail weapon.


When a model is hit by an attack with this weapon, it becomes knocked down.

Minions
Sacral Vault: Feedback showed that many players wanted a heavier support role out of the Sacral Vault. Telemetry synergizes very well with several of the Blind Water Warlocks and promotes the concept of the model.

  • The Sacral Vault gains Telemetry.


Telemetry - Other friendly Faction models gain +2 to magic attack rolls against enemy models in this model’s command range.
