Summary of changes currently being tested:

*Tokens, templates, proxies, and measurement markers have been further defined. This includes a limitation of the number of non-proxy measurement markers that can be left cluttering the table.
*Deathclock is now the standing timing rule for tournaments, timed turns are now a variant.
*Terrain that randomly goes out in WARMACHINE, such as burning earth or dense fog, does not go out in SR.
*Terrain guidelines exist for placing terrain on tables to ensure that each battlefield is meaningful, and that terrains is placed in such a way that it impacts the game..
*The type of models that can now control circular zones, rectangular zones, and flags has changed. This is a massive change, and should be read carefully.
*All scenarios now use Kill Box, which has been reduced to 10" from each table edge.
*The third and fourth tie-breakers have been vastly simplified.
*All objectives have changed. This includes a change to the Objective rule, found on their cards, which now allows friendly models to ignore the objective model when determining LOS and to move through the objective model as long as they do not end their movement on it.
*Scenarios no longer end when a player scores 5 CPs. There is no CP cap anymore. A player wins if they ever score 6 more CPs than their opponent, or if they have more CPs than their opponent at the end of the game.
*There are three Rumble scenarios and six Standard scenarios, most of which have changed. Of great importance is the new "Fixed Game Length" rule on scenarios, which states that if neither player has won by assassination or scenario by the end of round 7, the game immediately ends and the winner is determined by tie breakers (most CPs wins first tiebreaker, then if necessary most AP destroyed, and finally if still needed best scenario presence).

Change log :

Overview Section

  • The dates that the document is legal for organized play has been updated to reflect it going live the Monday after Lock & Load 2017.



Player Responsibilities Section

  • Tokens, Proxy Base, Table Marker, and Measuring Device language has been refined.

  • The requirement that each list a players brings to an event must be played once (aka Divide & Conquer) has been removed.


Event Organizer Responsibilities Section

  • Added Rubble to list of Unrestricted Terrain.

  • Clarified the Cluster Terrain deployment method language, and added an example.

  • Additional language was added to explain the usage of hazard terrain such as burning earth, specifically in regards to combining it with another terrain feature such as a forest.

  • Removed an incorrect line stating that inert warjack and wild warbeasts count towards the third tiebreaker, which they do not.

  • Sportsmanship section has had additional guidelines added.



Scenario Reference Sheet Section

  • Corrected a typo in the Assassination scoring section.

  • Added language to clarify the Deployment section in regards to friendly Objective deployment and facing.

  • Added language to clarify that a model in a warbeast pack must in formation to control a rectangular zone, and the entire unit is not required to be in the zone, unlike how warrior units function in circular zones.

  • Added language to clarify that a standard warrior unit must in formation to control a circular zone.

  • Added language regarding warcaster/warlock units controlling and formation.



Objectives Section

  • The Fuel Cache objective has been updated to only provide the benefit to a single model’s next basic attack.

  • We have removed the Arcane Wonder, Effigy of Valor, and Bunker objectives to reduce the number of objective specific rules players have to remember in addition to all other Steamroller rules. A dev talk will take place during this week regarding what exactly these objectives do in game to ensure the decision of which to take is meaningful.



Tournament Variant Section

  • We are aware that Rumble Scenario 3 shows triangles (flags) instead of circles (objectives). This will be updated to circles on the map in a future update.


Scenarios Section

  • Killbox is now only in effect from a player’s own table edge, and has been increased to 12”. The sides of the table and your opponent’s deployment zone are safe to stand in.

  • We are aware that the colors are missing from the objectives in The Pit II & Standoff , and that the scale of the Standoff Scenario are off. These issues will updated on the map in a future update.

  • We are internally testing a completely new design of Recon that will either be dev talked, or released in week 3 update. Please continue testing the Recon we have now, as feedback is still relevant.

SR 2017 Week 3 (final) :

Player Responsibilities Section
  • Tokens, Proxy Base, Table Marker, and Measuring Device language has been further refined, and in some cases redefined.
  • Thagrosh, Painter of Everblight has been added to the list of Exclusive Models.


Event Organizer Responsibilities Section
  • Reduced the distance terrain is moved when using the Scatter Terrain deployment method.
  • Deathclock language has been revised to clarify when a player can end their turn immediately for scenario victory, and what kind of scenario victory they can still achieve if their clock runs out.


Scenario Reference Sheet Section
  • Corrected a typo in the Assassination scoring section.


Objectives Section
  • Objectives are now chosen after list selection during a game, a player can change their objective each round.
  • The Fuel Cache objective has been updated to provide Pathfinder to a single model for a round.
  • The Stockpile objective has been updated to heal a single model, but in a larger range. Additionally it now heals any model, not just warjacks or warbeasts.


Tournament Variant Section
  • We are aware that Rumble Scenario 3 shows triangles (flags) instead of circles (objectives). This will be updated to circles on the map in the final design of Steamroller.
  • Fixed a typo in the Baseline that still indicated D&C was a thing. It is not.


Scenarios Section
  • A new version of Recon is now available.
  • We are aware that the colors are missing from the objectives in The Pit II & Standoff , and that the scale of the Standoff Scenario are off. These issues will updated in the final design of Steamroller.
